Public Transport Information Web Sites:
How to Get It Right
A Best Practice Guide

By Susan Kenyon, Glenn Lyons and John Austin

Front cover

In September 2000, the Transportation Research Group (TRG) at the University of Southampton, in partnership with Austin Analytics, were contracted to investigate best practice in traveller information web sites by the (then) Department for the Environment, Transport and the Regions (DETR) and the Institute of Logistics and Transport (ILT). The Guide that was produced has been published by the ILT and is now available to purchase, in hardcopy and CD ROM, from the ILT. Click to download an order form (Word97 format, 45KB).

The Guide is also available to download in PDF from this web site.

To view the Guide, you will need to have installed Adobe Acrobat, which is free to download and can be accessed from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html. To download Acrobat, please follow the instructions on the Adobe web site. To view the Guide, simply click on the links below. Please be aware that, because of the large number of graphics, it may take time to download.

The old project pages are still available to view at http://www.trg.soton.ac.uk/pti.
