INTEGRATED INCIDENT MANAGEMENT STATEGIESSite-specific Integrated Incident Management Strategies (IIMS) have been designed for operation at the Barcelona, Thessaloniki, Munich and Southampton test sites. These strategies involve traffic management (signal phasing, access control and ramp metering) and/or information dissemination through VMS and local radio broadcasts. The strategies have been developed by simulating the effects of specific incidents on key parts of the respective PRIME test sites using either AIMSUN II or RGCONTRAM. These modelled effects show the benefits to the network of diverting certain proportions of incident affected traffic. Each site has derived a series of IIMS to mitigate against the negative impacts of incidents occurring on key parts of their respective networks. |
