Introducing PRIME

The Project Kick Off Meeting takes place at Heraklion in Crete. Structured around 7 Work Packages the project aims to develop innovative methods for incident management. The partners are comprised of 14 organisations from 5 countries representing industrial, academic and public sectors.

Incident Detection with PRIME

Incidents are an increasing source of economic and social cost throughout Europe and beyond. PRIME provides a total incident management solution which covers the complete incident lifecycle from estimating the probability of an incident through to detection, verification and traffic management strategies.

PRIMED and Ready to GO

The first PRIME SIG Forum took place at the Institute of Computer Science at Heraklion in Crete. The Forum helped to consolidate the feedback from numerous local User Group meetings in the partners countries by bringing together representatives from transport ministries, municipal authorities and other users with a special interest in PRIME.

PRIME Takes Off

Even before the completion of testing dialogue had started between some PRIME Partners and potential customers and proposals are in preparation for the deployment of PRIME Components. Partners involved in the exploitation will initially target early adopters in their local markets to provide a structured deployment to match the end users needs.

PRIME Components integrated at Heraklion Workshop. Feb ’01

The prototype components were developed by several partners in different countries communicating and exchanging elements of design and code by e-mail but eventually it was necessary to pull it all together. This was done at an integration workshop were components from Spain, Greece and the UK were successfully integrated and tested through a common database.

First PRIME SIG Forum consolidates feedback from User Groups Nov ’01

The test results and capabilities of the PRIME Prototype were presented at the first SIG Forum at the Institute of Computer Science in Crete. The presentations included technical sessions, demonstrations and open discussion. Comments from the attendees and feedback in the form of post meeting questionnaires endorsed the direction of the project and supported the functionality and facilities presented

Test results prompt expansion of PRIME deployment Jan ’02

The quality of the test results and ease of use of the RAID ID Component at the trial site in Southampton have prompted the expansion of the Component to cover the roads adjacent to the West Quay Shopping Centre. The total deployment in the City now covers over 50 detectors. In addition the new interface for the selection of Incident Management Strategies has received the approval of operators who previously had to navigate their way through pages of computer listings.

PRIME Partners begin proposals for major deployments Jan ’02

Prompted by presentations at prestigious User Group Conferences and contacts through industrial partners proposals have started for the deployment of PRIME Components in the South of England. These deployments will help to raise the profile of the PRIME technology and increase confidence in its capabilities.
